Concssions

Consussions are caused by a direct blow to the head. There are five different types of concussions. The most common one is mild. They are the most common and least harmful head injury. Nick has a Grade II consussion which is one of the more common types. There are not very many Grade V concussions that occur. A concussion is a short lived loss of brain function. there are many different symptoms that can occur with this. the most common will be headache, stomach ache, dizzy, eyes are sensitive to light and loss of concentration just to name a few. Once you have had a concussion you are more likely to get more and they will not be as hard to get. Sometimes you can hit your head and cause a concussion but you don't even know that you have it. It may just feel like you have a headache. The number one cause of concussion are sports. Almost all are sports related. Time is a big part of the healing process. Most symptoms will be gone within a week to ten days. during the time be sure to rest and use ice to dull the pain. Do not get in a rush to do anything and limit what you can and can't do. So protect your head you only get one!

Will Nick ever play his game again? Nobody believes that he will play hockey again not even him. The only one that does is his girlfriend. She thinks that he should be playing and keeps begging him to go back and play because he is miserable. Nick is very grumpy and getting on everyone's nerves. I think that everyone wants him to go back and play so that he is happy. His parents are getting more and more annoyed by him everyday. If he went back playing it would not be good because he is still not feeling very good but he won't tell anyone the way he really feels.

I think that if he does not get better soon and start doing something he will go crazy. Even if he does not play hockey again he needs to do something to keep his mind off it because he is making everyone around him mad including himself. It is interesting to hear the arguments Nick and his parents have.

Return to school

What will the other kids do when he comes back? Will they treat him any different? how will he do in class, what if he can't focus and get any of the work done?

Well two weeks after his concussion happened he returned to school. the first day back was very long and frustrating. His friends were acting all wierd and different when he was in the room, just as he predicted would happen. By his second day back to class he was tired of everyone being nice to him and treating him different.

After reading about half the book. Nick's head has not gotten any better and he is starting to get into more and more arguments with his parents. they seem to be getting worse and worse. The more he thinks about hockey the angrier he gets. I think that if his parents let him play he would be happy. But his head has not gotten any better and he would not be able to function on the ice, or if he got hit again he would be done forever. i think that he still has a chance!

How long will Nick be out? How long will the affects of this concussion last? Nick is having a hard time accepting that he will not be able to play hockey for quite a long period of time or maybe he will never be able to play again. The doctors suggested that he should start playing a non-contact sport, such as tennis or volleball, there are lotsof non-contact sports. A Grade 2 concussion is not good there is only one that is worse which is Grade 3. Nick gets really dizzy and very bad headaches that he is not telling his parents or anyone. I think that he needs to tell his parents and his doctor because they might be able to help him and it would be easier for them to figure out what is happening. I know he really wants to play agian but if he gets another concussion he may get brain damage. And the next one will be even easier to get because he has had so many already.

I think that his parents will not be able to control him and he will play again after he is better. But maybe he will figure out how dangerous it will be if he gets another head injury. So its hard to say what will happen next.

Hi i have just started my second book, so far it has been a good choice. Nick is the star hockey player for his team, everyone looks to him. Nick was skating on a breakaway when he was checked from behind and went crashing into the end boards. he suffered a grade 2 concusion as a result. I wonder if he will ever be able to play again once you get one concusion the next will be even easier. This was serious hockey was his passion, his life, what he lived for, and now he will never be able to play again. I think that it may take awhile but he will be playing again somday. But after seeing the doctor they Nick found out that it is alot more serious then what he thought. I would like to know what he will end up doing if he does get to play again or what he will do if he doesn't get to play again. Nick has a bad temper and because he is not playing, it is really showing.

Game Day

Sunday arrived! The big game was about to start, Stevie and Susan Carol were still in there room. The only reason why I think they were in there was because of Mr. Meeker. Meeker is the owner of the dreams' and they knew if they went out there he would get to them. I don't think that they should be scared to go out because even if Meeker tried to do anything Kelleher would not let him. Stevie and Susan were also only fourteen, which made them look very good and Mr Meeker looked very bad, he did not like that. I think that their plan was great and they wrote a great story telling the truth. The truth is always the best thing to tell because you will always be caught.

Stevie and Susan had caught Meeker red handed. They had planted a tape recorder in the room where Mr Meeker had an interview with Kelleher early that morning. This was a great plan and now they have evidence to him admitting to his cover up. Susan Carol and Stevie had finally solved the mystery and it was time to watch the game. They did a great job doing the things they were sent there to do. They exceeded their expectations and gave it 100%. I think that this trip would have been the experience of a life time and can not believe how Stevie and Susan did such a good job at such a young age. They handled all the media and the other newspaper companies very well I thought. They had their ups and downs that they had to push throughto be successful. I give them alot of credit and think it would be a great experience.

I really liked this book and it was very interesting. The author did a great job writing this and was very descriptive so it was easy to follow. I would like to find another book by this author and see if it is similar.

The storie finally broke! Everyone knows whats happening and everyone wants to know the truth. Stevie and Susan are staying very close to their friends as the owner of the football team Mr. Meeker is very mad and Bobby Kelleher, who is in charge of the kids does not want them gettinr hurt. There is alot of tension between everyone right now and it is interesting. Mr. Meeker does not believe that they found out the story and how it is being covered up. The starting quarterback of the Dreams' is benched because he is the one that told the kids about everything. He knew that he would not get to play if he did this and he also ratted out his own team and friends. Mr. Meeker and the others involved know that its true and do not want to get caught.

Susan and Stevie have became very close as the week goes on and have spent alot of time together. After she did this story with Stevie her boss Tal Vincent said he is going to fire her. She does not like working for him and I think it would not hurt her feelings any. Her and Stevie have to stay low for a day or two because of all the media and the fans wanting to know the truth.

Sunday has Finally come and the game is about to start!
